Crescent of Gold |
A crescent of gold eclipses the dune
A temple of purity addresses me home
Marble towers kiss the sky of blue
Where birds flock around the ember dome
The desert is soft and pure in my hands
And the air is calm and spiritually moving
The aches and pains from my treacherous journey
By channels of light are gently soothing
The sun enlightens the city walls like mirrors
And I see my reflection and the smile on my face
I take my time to observe the foundations
And the arches that lead to such grace
From afar it appears like a cocoon
Huddled and enclosed from the outside world
But inside is an eternal butterfly
Of colours pure as its wings unfold
If Earth had a little slice of Heaven
One place which we could keep holy and renown
Let it be this city of Jerusalem
Its spiritual light, our golden crownReturn back to poems main page >    |
